ECO TOWNS - a shortlist of sites for 15 eco towns has been announced. The shortlist will be whittled down to ten.
INTERVIEW: MICHAEL FABRICANT MP, LICHFIELD - this is a small town with a real sense of community. Building 5000 additional homes will create an urban sprawl.

ECO TOWNS - Housing Minister Caroline Flynn is to announce that 15 towns will go forward to the next step of the Eco-town process this morning.
STUDIO INTERVIEW: JOHN DEAGON, ST MODWEN DEVELOPERS - we will build 6,000 homes with at least a third that will be affordable for people on waiting lists. There will be lots of new services and a updated transport service, but most importantly the whole thing will be economically sound and have a carbon zero footprint.
INTERVIEW: MIKE BRAIN, STRATFORD DISTRICT COUNCIL - a new town of this size would devastate a town like Stratford upon Avon. This is in the wrong place and breaks the governments own criteria that it should be close to already established larger settlements.
